Diving With A Purpose

Introduction


Diving With a Purpose are a collection of Black divers who partner with underwater preservationists. Not only do they assist with underwater archaeological research, but they also head several diving courses and reef replacement projects. DWP wanted to prepare for an influx of media requests following their feature in the Epix docuseries "ENSLAVED", but also make it clear to the press about their other work.

 

Approach


We created a manageable way to filter media requests by building a questionnaire that prompted users to choose the topic they were interested in learning about: Shipwreck History, Education, Reef Preservation, etc. This would prompt interested parties to ask more nuanced questions about the breadth of the organization.

We also spent weeks on media training, so that each member’s interviews could be more reflective of their technical work and expertise, not just their origin story. In addition to creating interview guidelines, we also compiled their mapping data, presentations, and press to be highlighted on their website.

 

The Final Word
